A Bit About Mrs. Ritter
I was blessed to grow up in the wonderful community of Montague and am a graduate of Montague High School. Our community is beautiful, both on the visual side with its breath-taking shoreline, sparkling water, and amazing farmland and on the interior. What is on the inside of our community? We have citizens, young and old, who care for one another and our environment and provide encouragement to those who need it. I'm so grateful to live where everyone seems to share in the celebrations and the moments of need.
After marrying my high school sweetheart, Chris Ritter, we moved to Whitehall and have had the joy of raising three children, Brooke, Brett, and Jakob. Although we have made Whitehall our residence, we are true Wildcats. While my children were attending Shoreline Elementary in Whitehall, I began volunteer work in their classrooms. The time I spent volunteering with students brought great happiness for six years. When our youngest child, Jakob began kindergarten, I decided I wanted to become a teacher, so I attended MCC and then GVSU. After graduating in 2005, I was hired by NBC. It has been an amazing journey. In 2010 I earned a Master's degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Cornerstone University.
The most rewarding part of my career is watching and participating with students while they progress in their mastery of English, in all aspects of communication and creating positive relationships within the classroom. I have found that students learn more when they are in a happy environment. It is my goal to smile at and speak to each of my students personally each day while guiding them through strategically planned lessons.
When I'm not in the classroom, I enjoy reading, taking walks with my husband and dog, Charlie, riding bikes, kayaking, and spending as much time as I can in the dunes of Silver Lake with my family and friends.
